Design Principles in Action

Burger King

Emphasis

Burger King shows emphasis in a few different ways. The biggest emphasis I see is the giant burger towards the top of the page. It brings your eyes to it, so you get hooked into buying a burger. They also use emphasis by making their widgets vibrant and big, so your eyes are drawn towards it. Burger King's Website

Caribou Coffee

Unity

I loved how Caribou used unity to pull customers in. Throughtout the whole website, they use the same blue in their backgrounds, text, and buttons. They also have the same warm, yellow-orangish color to fit their fall theme, and they put it throughout their website to pull everything together. The font also stays the same and the size doesn’t

fluctuate. Caribou's Website

Space Aliens

Balance

When I looked at Space Aliens' website, I knew exactly what principle they were utilizing. This website is a good example for balance. All the widgets are center-aligned, and they are all in odds. The logo and the navigation are also centered. It doesn’t feel like one side is heavier than the other and it too overwhelming. Space Alien's Website

Sabers Pro

Contrast

I chose SabersPro to represent contrast for a couple of reasons. This website has good contrast due to its white background and dark logo and widgets. They also use a less dark grey for the navigation to give your eyes a break and some negative space. When you scroll down, all their widgets have darker backgrounds and have vibrant colors to separate it from the rest. Overall, I think this is a great example of how to use contrast.
